Heres a mix for pride!

I wanted to so something a little more festive than my usual pounding workout mix. You’ll either love or hate the first track, but it climbs to into a hard groove like I usually like to start with… but after a hard left turn, settles into a happy, vocal bounce for most of the mix. Including as much diva-ness as I can bare to include. And yes, a few of my friends would sorely miss Rihanna if she wasn’t in here, so there she is. Who doesn’t like Please Don’t Stop The Music?

And since this mix kicks off a big bash before we move East, the mix ends on a more serious, sad note… but that track, In The Dark, is one of my favs on here, even if it sticks out like a sore thumb.

The first three tracks, and a few in the middle are more my taste… this mix, more than usual, has few more mainstream stuff mixed in.

But before you get into it, first, a disclaimer: I’ve been pulled away to Seattle (and SF) for work for a couple weeks here, so I never got to tweak this mix after my first go at it. So the mixing isn’t tight and freaky like I like to do, and there are certainly a handful of places that coulda been cleaned up. I’m not as proud of this mix as my last couple. But, I’m not gonna be back home in Vancouver until Pride now, and am away from my mix and all my tunes, so I’m posting the alpha version, as-is. The mix was almost titled Good Enough. :) Fun now, technical mastery next time, k?

Enjoy, and let me (or my Tip Jar!) know what you think. And happy Pride 2007, bitches! See you on the dance floor.

A fitting thing to run across in my current state.

Bal en Blanc 2007 - Superhero Party Video

Ok, I know this is a little late. This past Easter, Mark and I met up with our friends in Ottawa (our soon-to-be home!) to head to Montreal for a little party. “Little” as in us and 15,000 of our closest friends. Boy-boy squishee-squishee.

But also boy-girl squishee-squishee, as this was a predominantly straight event. Bal en Blanc is a white party thrown every Spring, and it was a Superhero theme this year. We had an awesome time, and Offer Nissim fucking rocked the house. He’s my current favorite event DJ by a long shot - look at how he freaks out and totally gets into it.. he himself, is a show. If you ever have a chance to see Offer - preferably at a large event like this one - GO. Mya also did a great live performance… I’ve enhanced the audo in that section with the mp3 of the track, as the bass was distorting the recording and her vocals matched up almost perfectly.

We decked ourselves out in white, and themed our outfits with Superhero logos. I was the Flash, Mark was the Green lantern, and Andre was… the Green Arrow? The others were just white, I think.

Anyhow, we had a “bal.” Looking forward to more big, fun parties once we’re 100 minutes from Montreal.

PS: If anyone has the version of Bronski Beat - “Why” that is playing in the last section of this video, please send it my way… I haven’t been able to find it anywhere. I’d love you forever.
