Frankmusik… my latest music obsession

Since I posted my California video, I’ve gotten a few comments and emails asking about the first song in the soundtrack.  I was gonna post and share who it was, anyway… it’s Frankmusik… my latest little electronic obsession and pop-licious guilty pleasure.

The track in the video is "3 Little Words" (last video)… and here are a couple other favorites…starting with the song that made me fall in love with him:

I’m *really* excited for his album.  The more recent his work, the better it appears to get.  If you check out his myspace page, don’t miss listening to the full track "Vacant Heart".

Here’s the tune from my California video… how Rick Astley does he look below? :P

California Trip Video Extravaganza

Anyone that knows me well, will tell you that I work a lot.  And when I travel for work, the schedule is often even more rough, as it’s likely the case that I’ll be working more evenings than I usually do.

In fact, my birthday took place on this trip.  I was up until 3am working on a presentation.

However, there’s always time for fun.  After the deadlines.  Work hard, play hard.

In January, I went to Los Angeles, San Diego, Palm Springs (for the weekend) San Francisco, and Seattle - a bit of a West coast tour for work.  It was exhausting,  but had some great fun, too.

I didn’t take my camera out much in LA, SF or Seattle, but had it out over the weekend in SD and Palm Springs.  If you thought the last video in Montreal showed a lack of composure between me and my friends… this definitely one-ups it.

Mike is the clear star - with his hot moves, his fly-away arm, and his line about cake.  Priceless.

And he almost dropped the bike while dancing on it.  Didn’t get it on cam, though.  Damn!

Sucker is 4 minutes long, and that’s with lots of editing passes.  Getting used to iMovie ‘09, though.  It’s starting to become a really nice editor for this sort of stuff - was just too limited before.

PS.  Why does anyone live outside of California?  I forget.

*UPDATE: Had to remove the embedded video I had before… first and last time I use facebook for videos!  They picked on ME in particular, since I had music in the background.  WHO DOESN’T put music in the background of little movies on facebook?  Come on!*

Here’s a little something to help melt the last of the snow, and help push you through some of the pre-Summer workouts :)

Inspired by a recent trip to California, I came back with all sorts of great ideas and tunes for my next  mix.  When I sat down to put it together, there was clearly two different vibes going on… one being very sunny and smooth, and one being a bit more bangin’,  with sexier vibe.  The first one ended up giving way to the second.  A lot.

It’s like a beach party.  But at night.

It starts out really thumping, starts edging into aggressive, and then breaks down and ends up bitter-sweet and emotional.  Britney, Solange and Robyn (SWEET track) kick things off and make you shake a tail feather.  At the end, Kings of Leon tears your heart out… his voice amazes me.  If you don’t have the Kings of Leon album, you should check it out.

Hope you enjoy!  Comments and Tipjar monies (located on the sidebar below the mixes) greatly appreciated, as always.

- Andy

PS. I went what you might call "too far" on the album art this time.  It’s like a gay Sisqó Space Odyssey.  Being a creative professional, I’m accustomed to learning how to strictly edit… but this being my non-professional creative outlet… so I’m letting the big guns run, unchecked :)

lose control, system overload

I feel like I’ve just heard the song for the first time.

How did I miss this video, anyway?

If you haven’t given this album a chance - because you either can’t handle Kanye’s attitude like most of the world, or feel the synthesized voice effect is just too T-Pain to appreciate - you should clean Kanye’s slate and give it a good listen.  It’s dark, moody, and just awesome.  Say You Will, Welcome To Heartbreak, and Street Lights are favs.

And you MUST check out the Max Justus remixes of 808’s & Heartbreaks… Arjan posted this on his blog (a favorite of mine), and it’s just phenomenal.

Sony Ericsson "Idou" 12.1 megapixel beast

Sony Ericsson IdouSony Ericsson IdouSony Ericsson Idou

Lordy.

Hot on the tails of the mysterious Nokia marketing gimmick for an upcoming imaging phone, Sony  Ericsson reveals this monster at Mobile World Conference.

Meet the Sony Ericsson Idou (this won’t be her name when she’s brought to market).  Rocking 12.1 megapixels with a Xenon flash, and a 16:9 640×320 pixel touch-screen (please tell me it’s capacitive), to get you started.  Sure, 12.1 megapixels only means so much, since the photo quality from the lens will likely be no better than their 5 and 8 megapixel offerings… unless they have some suprises up their sleeves.

What’s really exciting?  Seeing what this new Symbian Foundation OS could be all about!  Check the video below… don’t believe for a second that it’s fully-baked software running on this phone, but if the example that they’re showing is a sign of what they’ll have later this year… Symbian might just be saved!

My hopes?  That it actually gets released, that the OS is tight and slick, and the sucker records VGA video (at least!  Seeing 12.1 megapixels stills and low-res video on the same phone would be ridiculous).

AND… I wanna see Nokia match this with that imaging handset they’ll hopefully announce this week.

Might 2009 be shaping up to be the year for mobile devices, that 2008 clearly wasn’t?

Montreal Pride ‘08 Shenanigans

The only thing more disturbing than looking through a long list of videos that don’t make much sense… is trying to edit them.

And here we go!

Montreal Pride was a blast.  I’d never been there for Pride before - it’s always fallen on the same weekend as Vancouver Pride, and that was a much shorter trip (and still a great time).  I have to say, though… Montreal Pride is one of the best I’ve been to - the whole weekend was a hoot.  Montreal knows how to have a good time.  It rained some, but it was too much fun for any of us to really care… as you can see.

Here’s a couple minutes of the messiness, that I edited in iLife ‘09… tested out some of the new features (that should have always been there).  I’m starting to like the app now…
