Seattle Pride 2009

Just before heading off on another of my West coast work trips, I picked up a sweet new little compact point-and-shoot – a Canon SD780 IS.  Not only is this little gay red camera just WAY better than my previous little gay red camera, but it records 720p HD video, which totally rocks my face.  So naturally, being on the West coast for a couple weeks, I was able to capture some of the weekend fun in Seattle… and this weekend was Seattle Pride.

I hadn’t been in 5 or so years – I was surprised and how it’s grown.  It’s awesome to have the parade downtown and the festival at the Seattle Center, as opposed to on Broadway and in little Volunteer Park.  The weekend was hot and sunny, and I had a ball seeing old friends and meeting new ones, in my old city.

California Trip Video Extravaganza

Anyone that knows me well, will tell you that I work a lot.  And when I travel for work, the schedule is often even more rough, as it’s likely the case that I’ll be working more evenings than I usually do.

In fact, my birthday took place on this trip.  I was up until 3am working on a presentation.

However, there’s always time for fun.  After the deadlines.  Work hard, play hard.

In January, I went to Los Angeles, San Diego, Palm Springs (for the weekend) San Francisco, and Seattle - a bit of a West coast tour for work.  It was exhausting,  but had some great fun, too.

I didn’t take my camera out much in LA, SF or Seattle, but had it out over the weekend in SD and Palm Springs.  If you thought the last video in Montreal showed a lack of composure between me and my friends… this definitely one-ups it.

Mike is the clear star - with his hot moves, his fly-away arm, and his line about cake.  Priceless.

And he almost dropped the bike while dancing on it.  Didn’t get it on cam, though.  Damn!

Sucker is 4 minutes long, and that’s with lots of editing passes.  Getting used to iMovie ‘09, though.  It’s starting to become a really nice editor for this sort of stuff - was just too limited before.

PS.  Why does anyone live outside of California?  I forget.

*UPDATE: Had to remove the embedded video I had before… first and last time I use facebook for videos!  They picked on ME in particular, since I had music in the background.  WHO DOESN’T put music in the background of little movies on facebook?  Come on!*

Montreal Pride ‘08 Shenanigans

The only thing more disturbing than looking through a long list of videos that don’t make much sense… is trying to edit them.

And here we go!

Montreal Pride was a blast.  I’d never been there for Pride before - it’s always fallen on the same weekend as Vancouver Pride, and that was a much shorter trip (and still a great time).  I have to say, though… Montreal Pride is one of the best I’ve been to - the whole weekend was a hoot.  Montreal knows how to have a good time.  It rained some, but it was too much fun for any of us to really care… as you can see.

Here’s a couple minutes of the messiness, that I edited in iLife ‘09… tested out some of the new features (that should have always been there).  I’m starting to like the app now…

San Diego Pride… so accidentally awesome.

I had to go to San Francisco for work, and while I was in the states, had planned to jump up to Seattle to log some time in my country and work on-site.  They decided wasn’t needed that week, so I changed the plan a bit… and went to visit Mike and Zane in their new home city, San Diego.

I had  never been there before.  But must live there as soon as possible, now.

I had a great time with those guys, and ran into a ton of my friends, spanning 10 years of living all over the place.  But all the unusual fun that party weekends provide, set that aside… I can see why people are drawn to this place… a sunny, chill, gorgeous city… total West coast appeal.

I came back relaxed, smiling, and with a good ol’ healthy case of body dysmorphia that only Sunny Cali can provide.  Time for that protein shake and pickle diet, baby!

Bal en Blanc 2007 - Superhero Party Video

Ok, I know this is a little late. This past Easter, Mark and I met up with our friends in Ottawa (our soon-to-be home!) to head to Montreal for a little party. “Little” as in us and 15,000 of our closest friends. Boy-boy squishee-squishee.

But also boy-girl squishee-squishee, as this was a predominantly straight event. Bal en Blanc is a white party thrown every Spring, and it was a Superhero theme this year. We had an awesome time, and Offer Nissim fucking rocked the house. He’s my current favorite event DJ by a long shot - look at how he freaks out and totally gets into it.. he himself, is a show. If you ever have a chance to see Offer - preferably at a large event like this one - GO. Mya also did a great live performance… I’ve enhanced the audo in that section with the mp3 of the track, as the bass was distorting the recording and her vocals matched up almost perfectly.

We decked ourselves out in white, and themed our outfits with Superhero logos. I was the Flash, Mark was the Green lantern, and Andre was… the Green Arrow? The others were just white, I think.

Anyhow, we had a “bal.” Looking forward to more big, fun parties once we’re 100 minutes from Montreal.

PS: If anyone has the version of Bronski Beat - “Why” that is playing in the last section of this video, please send it my way… I haven’t been able to find it anywhere. I’d love you forever.

bringing in the new year: a moment on video

While I certainly didn’t plan on creating a vlog entry for this, when the booze comes out, sometimes the camera phone isn’t far behind.  The footage is a bit spastic, but we were as well. :)

Had a great time in NY with my Vancouver friends, and got to catch up with some close friends of mine that moved there.

Filmed on an N73.  And you guessed it, that naked individual is Amanda Lepore (see her on Tyra for a kick).
