Moblog Redesign

moblog_sc.jpg

I’ve updated my moblog on Textamerica’s new template system with my personal look-and-feel. I was planning to do a redesign anyhow… as soon as I get my new phone (Sony Ericsson k750i) I’ll have to change the banner image to accurately reflect my current handset.

Yes, I’m a nerd.

Anyhow, Hope you enjoy it. Also added a fun teaser animation on the this site, too (on the left-hand side).

Andy, you’re not a nerd bro. If I had your skills, my blog would revolve around my handset.

cough* also if I had decent handset.

    *sigh*

I donno. I think people who take pictures of their TVs must be geeks if not full out nerds.

Most likely, a little of both.

I love a guy that can appreciate a good handset when he sees one. LOL! In any case, your phones seem to take some good quality pics. Keep us posted on the SE k750i delivery.

Andy, i’m shocked you’re leaving the Nokia family. Does this have anything to do with Nokia’s future line up? I thought your next phone would be either a 6680 or mmaaayyybbbee a 6630.

Is it the lack of Pi-zaz?

You know.. I’ve been a Sony Ericsson fan since they broke ground with the t610… a great handset despite a few downfalls. But I’ve been even a bigger symbian fan… I’ve used Symbian for over two years solid, and felt regret every time I had tried to deviate from it.

Nokia is disappointing me in a few areas…

    1) they continue to ignore obvious demands from the people (mp3-player built into phone software…. mono??)

    2) their pace is not speeding up developing existing features (1 year to go from 1 megapixel (7610) to 1.3 megapixel (all announced phones). Sony Ericsson has made that the minimum on any high-end camera phone, and with tons of features stacked on top of it.. like autofocus, blah blah.

    3) FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, could they speed up the UI a bit.

    4) Sexy devices, yes…. but sterile-looking UI. Lord, have you seen the animations going on in the k750i/w800 UI? And it’s still frippin’ faster than any non-3G symbian phone.

I’m while sure I’ll own another Symbian phone again, I’m going to switch gears to a device that gives me what I’m looking for right now…

The T610 was the ish when it came out. It was the phone that got me into this mobile hobby. I remember saying, “I want one but what’s this GSM biz?”

Even though you have a ton of cool phone to choose from (*sigh*, gsm user, lol), the K750i sounds like an excellent choice. (auto focus?!? damn)Have you used the phone in hand or did you see pics/video of the UI? Post a link?

What’s stopping you from having more than one handset? I intend to rotate based on my mood. I’d kill for an 8801 just for the cool factor but will most like pick up a 6682 this summer so I can go live with mobile email. Maybe an 8801 will enter my life if I get a promotion this fall. I’m more limited being tied to 850GSM on Cingular than you are with TMobile so some of the new cool SEs won’t work for me.

God, I’m such a nerd too.

  • Andrew April 23rd, 2005 11:51 am

Well, it wouldn’t make sense for me to keep the 7610 if I had the k750i… the only thing the 7610 has over the new SE is looks (I still love the look of the 7610, probably my favorite handset in terms of hardware, ever). But it’s time. I’d rather leave it while it’s good :)

There are TONS of links with photos taken by the k750i, and videos of the UI as well… just peek inside the www.mobileburn.com or http://www.mobile-review.com/index-en.shtml forums and you’ll find plenty in the Sony Ericsson rooms… it’s what people are talking about.

I never understood multiple handsets. Unless you have a business phone and a walk around phone. Otherwise, it’s a waste of money. Only one person I know has 2 handset and it’s a 7280 and 6630; both serving completely different purposes.

I agree 110% about the 7610 having the most attractive design. It’s got that fashionable form plus substance unlike the Razr.. (don’t get my wrong I freakin love the Razr! The CDMA 1.3mpx Razr is going to be my last CDMA handset.)

Hey Andy, a nice Korean man gave me a tour of his 7610 today at work. He was buying abercrombie stuff for this kids back in Korea and had the pictures from the website on his phone! Later on his brother came in with a really flashy Samsung (looking it up now) which had a 2mpx camera. He couldn’t speak english very well so I asked if I could borrow it… hahahahah. He politly nodded but my manager sent me away hehehe.

Needless to say I was speechless by how cool the phone was so this K750i has to be the shiz nit if you’re giving it up. Man I wish I was on GSM!

  • Andrew April 27th, 2005 11:44 am

    Switch :)

  • Chris April 27th, 2005 9:32 pm

If I could switch I would have done it MONTHES ago. haha.

We could strike a deal though, like you give me your 7610 as a Birthday gift so I don’t have to buy a GSM phone… making my switch only cost $175 for the contract cancellation. :D

sounds like a sweet deal right?!?

Oh no Andy! Nokia’s got 2mpx!!!! Where did this N-series come from? You could one of the first to test out the N-series… sounds tempting…

you guys are total mobile phone geeks :)
i have a nokia 5510 (the one with the nifty keyboard but who won’t fit anywhere) for about 3 years now and it does what it’s supposed to do.
i call and get called, send textmessages and recieve them and that’s it.

if i want pictures i use my digital camera and if i want some cool animations i’ll watch cartoons or whatever.

to each his/her own but i don’t see what the fuss is about when a new model from so and so comes out.

damn, looks like Ericsson and Nokia really know how to get people into this buying-loop with a new model and new additions every 6 months.

    just my two cents.

    greets,

    Anthony

Without a doubt your opinion is popular thought. However, you’re overhearing the discussion between two people who know each other from a mobile phone photography community. :)

Pretty much anyone one any carrier *could* upgrade their phone for free every year. But if you’re phone suits you… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, eh?

  • Chris May 16th, 2005 11:25 pm

Andrew, I’ve noticed your font from your other blog. Is that your own? I’m searching for an inexpensive font program to use with photoshop but everyone seems to insist I get illistrator ($$$). Got any suggestions?

  • Andrew May 16th, 2005 11:56 pm

It’s not my own… it’s one I pulled from a free site online. Plenty of free fonts out there that look cool… or are you looking to design your own?

  • Chris May 17th, 2005 12:50 pm

I would like to make my own font and Fontifier.com has a service that can do it for $9 which isn’t a bad deal. My main problem is using text in Photoshop because they come out pixelated at large sizes.
