nokia n80 - i’m in love
I’ll be the first to admit I have an addiction when it comes to cutting-edge mobile devices. It’s been years since I’ve bought a phone from a carrier, as I’m always importing them the moment they’re released from the manufacturer, or not soon after, following the first price drop. That way, I can get my new phone for the price of “oh my God, you’re an idiot,” rather than pay the initial price of “pin the freak on the ground, I’ll disable his paypal account.”
That being said, the Nokia N80 is the stuff a technophile’s dreams are made of. Among an impressive list of features, I’ll pull a few out that really turn my crank:
- 3 megapixel camera w/ CIF video capture of 15 fps
with video stabilization
- WLAN 802.11g & UPnP (Universal Plug and Play)
- Digital music player
with support for MP3, AAC, eAAC, eAAC+, WMA
- High resolution 2.1’’ display
and full landscape screen for camera and gallery
Those are just a few to get your attention (full Nokia N80 data sheet). All my nerdy forum-mates at mobile-review and mobileburn are buzzing with the same excitement.

Hey thought you’d given up on this blog, good job I took a look just in case.
The n80 looks alot like their original camera phone, which was a brick, hopefully this update is a lot smaller!
Andy, you cease to amaze me. Excellent addition to your blog. I hope you’re looking at getting that black N80. The silver looks like a Tungsten Palm.
Welcome back!
Go on girl! Let us know how it goes. It the OS fast? That was my gripe about S60. Plus she was too chunky for me.
Seeing as you always on the new phones that are coming out, i have this question for you. What service provider do you have?
Sweet Phone! I’d like one with a better camera…
Nice move on the tabs. Adds some style to your blog. I’m jealous! :)
Sprint has a new one coming out too. It slides in half and the back side doubles as a full size qwerty. It’s one of the first to have windows mobile 5 too!
CJ - I use Fido here in Vancouver, BC… as it’s the only GSM carrier that lets you SMS the states in a current plan and not get charged “international texting fees.” If you’re asking because of the phones I use… I don’t buy cell phones from carriers, typically. I’m too impatient :)
I agree -I love this phone too .I am waiting desperately for this phone to come out !!!!!!!! Waiting for the release date !
I think it is the best phone which i had ever been used.
